Home Sweet Homer: Unpacking, Fires, and Unexpected Gifts!

Master and I officially made it home to Homer, and what an adventure it's been! The entire 263 miles was a steady downpour, but the universe truly had our backs. The rain paused just long enough for us to completely unpack the van and grab a few essentials from the local grocery store.

Then it was back to our little cabin for a little unpacking (dishes first, because this girl was hungry! 🤤) and to build a much-needed fire – the rain had made it super chilly inside. (As you can see, Master's favorite place is already right in front of the warm fireplace). Any-ho, after a long day of driving and unloading, some much-deserved sleep was definitely in order. 😴

Day 1 started with a classic cabin moment: the fire went out at 2:30 AM! As I lay there, debating whether to climb out of my warm bed, I could hear my mom's voice echoing in my mind: "Lynn, put some wood in the fire!" and "Lynn, I know you're cold, but you need to get up and check the fire." 🔥

Old memories of growing up with wood heat and well water flooded my mind. Reluctantly, I got up, got the fire roaring again, and called my mom (don't worry, there's a four-hour time difference, so I wasn't waking her up at 2:30 AM her time, lol! 😂). We had some good laughs about her echoing voice 😁

After getting cozy and chatting with my mom, I decided to grab a quick nap. When I woke, it was so beautiful that Master and I took a drive to scout out some extra wood for the next few days and grab some breakfast.

During our drive, I also had to make the important call to the power company – we needed electricity! The stunning photos of Mount Iliamna (below) were from that morning drive. By the time we returned, the universe delivered again: we flipped the breaker, and just like that, we had light! 💡😁🙏🏼❤️🥰🤩

Today is Day 2. The plan includes calling for Internet service, more unpacking, and hopefully the rest of our belongings will arrive later today. With only enough room in the van for our mattress topper, I'm pretty sure Master is going to be incredibly happy to have our full bed back (or is that me? 😂)?!?!

Crap, the fires out! Just kidding have a great day !! ❤️🙏🏼🥰🤩☀️😍😁🫣
